Massive Spoilers! )
Friday, 10. July 2009 - 16:37 - Hello, new friendly people!
Comics - Lucy in the Sky
So, I've added a bunch of people yesterday/today, and saying hi only sounds polite. The thing is, I don't have a lot of very interesting things to say right now. Apart from spamming people about hamsters, but I promised less of that, so no hamsters today.

I don't know if I should introduce myself or something... I guess most stuff in in my profile or the friending-meme entry or somewhere, but feel free to ask anything, I don't bite. :)

I'm currently in love with the new season of Torchwood. When has this show gotten so so so awesome? The fact that this serial has a lot of time to develop the plot and build up suspension probably has something to do with it. But anyway, it's awesome, and I love it, and its characters - especially the new girl, she's very cool. Haven't seen episode #4 yet, as I had a friend over last night and even though she feel asleep before me, watching TV in the middle of the night seemed kind of... rude. So I'm going to watch the final two episodes tonight, and hope that the conclusion will be as amazing as the rest.

I'm also waiting for the current season of the Eighth Doctor Adventures to finish, so that I can listen to a whole lot of Eight and Lucie, again. Those audio plays are way too much fun.

And the new season of Leverage should be airing soon, I think. Wheee! More crazy Parker! :D

I'm still in the middle of trying to read all the bandombigbang fics. So far, I'm about a third in, and liked about two thirds of the fics. I could give you numbers - I have a very, very nerdy excel sheet with all the fics and what I thought of them in it, though I don't exactly remember why that seemed such a good idea at first. It's intimidating! Anyway, I won't bore you with numbers, but damn, I have read way way way too much fic these past weeks, and way too little else. There's Shakespeare and Bond and Stoppard that I should read, and I've been reading slashfic instead. Fandom has seriously screwed with my priorities...

We watched 'Ran' today in our Shakespeare adaptations seminar, a film by Kurosawa. Well, we watched about half of it, it was a bit long for one session. What I saw seemed pretty cool, so I'm thinking about going to the full screening in two weeks or something. I guess I'll decide if I'm in the mood for bloody fightscenes and over two hours of subtitles on the day.

I should really start studying for my 'Cognitive Grammar' exam next week. But that stuff is so dry, and I don't understand half of it, and really, it's very very boring. Meh.

Also need to figure out topics for a term paper in 'Comparing Political Systems: US/UK'. Depending on whether I really need to stick with the topic that our group did a presentation on, I'll need to come up with something that fills at least ten pages and deals with the Queen/British monarchy in some way, or, if I can pick whatever I want, I'll try and find out more about the Welsh Assembly. Not that there are any really really interesting topics for papers in this, but I really need the credits.

The semester is drawing to a close, I have one more week of courses and then I'll be (even more) free to do what I want. Which will hopefully include visiting [info]peaches in Sweden, and hosting a new challenge at [info]ficathon_de. Maybe that'll help kickstart my creativity or something. Not that it really worked the last two times, but we'll see.

Also, does anyone have an idea if it's possible to edit tags (I mean, keep the tage, but change what it says) on DW and LJ at the same time, or do I have to do that all by hand? I suppose it might be a bit inconvenient that they are more or less German only, right now...
Well, I guess I have free time coming up.

Okay, I'll need to go and buy a carrier for the hamster that gets shipped to Frankfurt this evening now. [Oh, look. They are creeping in again. Oops.]
Tuesday, 7. July 2009 - 2:34 - and no one will know wtf i'm talking about.
Random - Gänseblümchen
instead of getting the exclamation point back, they should just call it beach dog.

(no? too much fourth wall breakage? oh well, i can dream... that band's concept - fictional as it was - was way too awesome not to exist.)
Monday, 6. July 2009 - 19:17 - stupid answerphones.
Katze - fauch
you know, if your answerphone tells me from 6pm till 7.20pm that sadly, no one can take my call just now and would i please call back during opening hours, monday to saturday, 8am to 8pm, i won't feel as if you are taking me, or your customers in general, very serious...

idiots.

will have to drive there tomorrow, if they still won't answer the phone. (it's a pet shop, or I wouldn't bother, but they might have room for the hamsters...)
Friday, 3. July 2009 - 17:26 - Poor baby.
Katze - Röhre
At some point, I'm gonna stop spamming you with posts about hamsterbabies. Once they are all gone, probably, but at some point. ;)

So, one of the little black ones has hurt his eye. Possibly ran against something, had someone kick him in it, collided with a piece of straw, something.
I just went to the vet with him, to get him checked out, and she told me there isn't much to be done. I'll treat the eye with some homeopathic liquid, and if it doesn't get infected, it can stay like that, otherwise, it'll probably have to come out.

She also told me that even if he is a little disabled like that, I should still be able to find someone to take him, hamsterlovers won't care and all that.

But, you see, I had to fill out a sheet about me and my pet, going in. And I had to give a name, and just leaving that blank sounded way too mean. So now, the little guy is called Punk(*). And you know how it is, once you've named them...

I really shouldn't keep one of the babies. I could possibly make room for one, but two is twice the work that one is, and will be that much more complicated once I move - which will very likely be during the next year, so while both of them are in all probability still alive.

Meep! What to do, what to do...

Also, a black one - Edmund - has left me today. That's how I noticed Gerard's eye in the first place, because I couldn't really send of a 'damaged' hamster. He got to [info - personal]blady just fine, she tells me. One down, four five to go.

The third black one possibly needs a little longer with his mum, he's at least a centimetre smaller than the others, and they are only around 5cm, altogether. Why must you be so difficult, kiddos?

Still no clue as to sexes, btw. I tried comparing distances between 'holes', as the internet suggested, but I don't think that all except one of them are boys. Also, the vet tells me that even she couldn't tell yet, so yeah, no idea.

(*) He was calles Gerard first, but Nicole did convince me that that's too much Fangirl even for me, and also, Punk and Emo go way better together. *g*
Wednesday, 1. July 2009 - 23:16 - Meme and more hamsters.
HP - Sunflower!Luna
A meme about reading, seen at [info]stellamira's.
Reading-Meme )

And to round out the post of randomness, have some more hamsterbabies. They've grown so much!
Also, they'll be five weeks tomorrow, which means I should send them off this weekend, and take everyone who's left to the pet shop by next thursday at the latest.

Whoever wants one of the hamsters, now you've gotta tell me!

Right now, there's two black-and-whites and two black ones left. [one black one goes to blady, one black-and-white one to lir's sister and her bf.]
It's more likely to get mitfahrzentrale/-gelegenheit people who go to your city on the weekend, so this weekend really would be good, but I can accomodate them for another week, if that's better for you.

Darunter, kleiner:
"Baby, was hast du geraucht? Das will ich auch haben."

Found this on the door to some loo at college today. Rough translation:

"Are the clouds not a world above us, and aren't we walking on the ceiling of the sky?
If so, you shouldn't jump too high, so that you don't leave the thin layer of inverted gravity and plunge down.
If you just picture it long enough, you will believe it. And you'll feel queasy, lying on a hill, head downwards. And subconciously, you'll start holding on to the grass."

Below, smaller: "Baby, what did you smoke? I want some."

Katze - kuscheln
Yay! Hamster #1, Mr. or Ms. Waffles, aka 'Thick Stripe', has found a new home with [info]feuerschein's sister and her boyfriend. Or will, once they are completely weaned. Anyway, he/she's taken.

In about a week's time, it's time to say goodbye to the little buggers. :(

Friday, 19. June 2009 - 22:54 - I drink to remember? Seriously?
Comics - Babs is angry
Wow, that was crap.
Guy-From-Friday Night Lights as Gambit was nice eyecandy, and pre-everything Wade was surprisingly cool, with the never shutting up and stuff, but the rest? That was *it*? Why did I pay money for that?

(In case you were wondering, I just got back from the cinema, where I payed 8€ (and why don't they have student discounts) to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine.)

If there is one person or more on your friends list who makes your world a better place just because they exist and who you would not have met (in real life or not) without the internet, then post this same sentence in your journal.

Have some pictures of tiny little hamsters to make up for my sheepness. Sheepishness? Sheep-dom? Anyway! Hamsters! )

Monday, 15. June 2009 - 22:48 - babies
Doctor Who - Rose
So I was rude just now and took the hamsters' roof away, but I thought it necessary to disturb them a bit and find out how many actually made it. Turns out, all of them. So I have three black mini-hamsters, and three black-and-white ones, and they just started walking a couple days ago, and have had their eyes open for maybe two, and gosh, they are so tiny and cute and will lick my fingers. *_*
Also, one of them comes after it's mother and discovered the joys of the hamster wheel at a very early age. It was just practicing walking in the thing. (everybody go 'awwwwww!' now.)

Cute, tiny little buggers. Let's see what happens when they get big enough to reach the upper storeys of the cage... Emo won't have a minute of peace, then. She's always dragging them back into the nest just to have them escape again now, already. *giggles*

okay, so my cooking has officially turned pathetic because of don't care: I'm eating maccaroni with ketchup just now. mjam.

also, [info] - personalpeaches, I'm tidying the flat for you, but I don't think I'll actually get around to vacuuming and shit. You'll live, I guess.

The hamster babies are still not crawling around, even though the book says they should by now. Meh. Come on, babies...

Also, I'm thinking about getting a paid account for DW, if just to upload more icons so that I can stop using the same all the time. That's a pretty pathetic reason for spending all that money, though. But I really really can't decide on just 6! Woe is me! D:

...

a few minutes later:

and now I bought 6 month 'basic' paid time. and I still won't be able to just import all my icons, because i'll 'only' have 75 slots, but have more icons than that on lj. oh noes!
anyway, yay, paid?

Thursday, 11. June 2009 - 12:59 - Rec: I Dream a Nation of You
HP - Sunflower!Luna
Okay, so you might have noticed that I'm currently reading lots and lots of bandom-fic, what with [info]bandombigbang happening and all. And I know I don't really have a lot of people from that fandom on my flist, but damn, this fic was so good that you need to read it. And it doesn't even matter if you don't know the fandom - I started out reading lots of bandom AUs because the good ones work fantastically as original fic as well. And I think this one should, too.

Anyway, I Dream a Nation of You, by [info]foxxcub.

It's set in a steampunky world, and centered around dragon rider Jon and his dragon, Helia, who have been on the run for several years at the beginning of the story, because the government ruled out dragon riding and was hunting riders down. He hides near a town where he has met Brendon, the local vet, and everything would be okay, if there weren't Spencer and Ryan who stumble into his hut one night, having been shot by government people. They are with the resistance. And then the story takes off.

It's 46,000 words long, really plotty, the worldbuilding is really good, the characters are fleshed out and their relationships develop nicely. It features a foursome (and don't I love the fact that there's a lot of shippy moresomes in this fandom? :D), though nothing graphic, the rating is PG-13, and sex really wouldn't have been necessary. There's also beautiful artwork and a really fitting soundtrack, and what are you waiting for, anyway? Steampunk and dragons, people!

Oh, in case you know the bands, or want to google what the people look like or something, this features mostly Panic at the Disco, with a bit of My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy thrown in. But as I said, it should work quite well as an original.

damn, [info]bandombigbang is awesome.
I already read four and a half fics that I liked, only started reading two that I didn't, really, and have four and a half still waiting for me already - it's not even the ninth yet in every part of the world. posting has just started a day ago, and there's three more weeks of this. so awesome!
170 fics, over 20k each!
getting to read all that makes it a little more okay to not actually having written anything that was longer than maybe 1,5k for it.
I will get back into writing.

Maybe the tentatively planned next ficathon will do the trick. current thematic idea is 'cliche'. because porn apparetly stopped working after two rounds, but going at it without any kind of theme is a bit too broad...

Sunday, 24. May 2009 - 20:20 - Ednaaaa!
HP - Sunflower!Luna
